About Hope

Teaching Philosophy

“Not A Scale Book” came out of years of teaching private lessons where Hope found herself repeatedly drawing patterns for students. The visual always seemed to eliminate student frustration and also help them grasp what to do differently. Eventually, she made a very simple erasable board with a picture of her violin, and the rest is history!

Hope uses spinners, whiteboards, diagrams, Buddha Boards, markers, timers, speakers, and countless games to make learning string instruments engaging, fun, and relevant to everyday life. She believes the each student, regardless of their age or apparent talent level, has something to teach her and gets to spend each lesson engaging with a kaleidoscope of fascinating individuals.

Hope Linton, violinist and violist

A neurodivergent violinist, violist, and educator, Hope graduated summa cum laude with her degree in Violin Performance in 2013 from West Chester University and has performed in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. She played professionally as a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician. Hope has spent the last decade building a vibrant private violin and viola studio where she encourages students of all ages bring their zaniest selves to every lesson.

While Hope is a prolific and expressive performer, her happiest place truly is in the classroom where she and her students get to explore new concepts and worlds together.
